Michigan Summer Attractions
We are often asked what are the best summertime attractions in Michigan. Wow, what a loaded question. Are you interested in the natural beauty of Michigan's coast including sand dunes and overlooks? Are you interested in the vast nature areas between the big lakes where you will see small lake communities and amazing historical architecture. Are you interested in Family Fun attractions that might include boats and lakes, farms and agriculture? There is just too much to see and do when visiting Michigan. Personally I would say map out an area of the state and see everything you can in that general area. Next year move to a different area. In about 15 or 16 summers you can decide what the best attractions are in Michigan.. Enjoy Life, Michigan Life!

 The historic Cappon House was the home of Holland's first mayor and local tannery proprietor, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. Visitors to the Cappon House step back in time, immersing themselves in the stories of Isaac Cappon and his large family. |
 May 1 - 10, 2026 Visitors from all over the world come to see millions of tulips in parks, gardens and tulip lanes. The festival hosts 3 parades, music and variety shows, concerts, dinner theatre and over 1,100 authentically costumed Dutch dancers. |

 For a great view of Big Red, visit Holland State Park, and walk along the boardwalk to the north pier (wheelchair accessible). Holland State Park is at the west end of Ottawa Beach Road on the northside of Holland. You can also view Big Red from Mt. Pisgah, where the dune stair case takes you 157 feet above sea level. |
 The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is free to use and has a paved-asphalt surface that is 12-feet wide. It's a multi-purpose trail for non-motorized transportation and recreation. Once complete, the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail will encompass 35 miles of trail throughout Kalamazoo County. |

 In operation since 1876, the lighthouse is the feature of the Tawas Point State Park, situated on a 200 acre peninsula that defines the southeast boundary of Tawas Bay. The 70 foot lighthouse is open for tours six days a week from May through September. |

 Point Iroquois was named for the Iroquois warriors massacred there by the Ojibway in 1662. The native Algonkian name for the Point is Nadouenigoning, composed of the words "Nadone" (Iroquois) and "Akron" (bone). |

 Open Seasonally Nestled among jack pines, just a quick two mile walk along a breathtaking trail, stands Big Sable’s noble black and white tower. At over one hundred feet tall, this historic beacon is a huge attraction for its owner, Ludington State Park. |
 The Children’s Zoo features a variety of animals ranging from small insects to our large Clydesdale Horses. We are currently home to over 150 animals (and that’s not including the thousands of insects!) year round. |
 Built in 1886, this lighthouse originally burned kerosene, but was electrified in 1929. It is now a private residence, but the light remains an active aid for navigation. |

 Tahquamenon Falls State Park encompasses close to 50,000 acres stretching over 13 miles. Most of this is undeveloped woodland without roads, buildings or power lines. The centerpiece of the park, and the very reason for its existence, is the Tahquamenon River with its waterfalls. |
