Fairs in Mason County can be traced back to the 1870s. However the present location hosted it’s first fair in 1936. The fair was discontinued for five years during the height of the Great Depression, but in 1936 the Western Michigan Fair Association was formed.

Our 118 acres, 102,000 square feet of indoor exhibition space, two indoor horse arenas, a grandstand that seats 3,800 people and a half-mile race track, bring in thousands of people from across the country every year for a range of events and activities.

The Iosco County Fair in Hale,Michigan offers thrilling grandstand events, we will always have an array of free entertainment happening all throughout the fair. Some of these will be our wild and crazy Barnyard Olympics, Farmer John and The Barnyard Express Show, livestock/horse shows, livestock auction, music, games for all ages and more!

Established in 1890 (incorporated in 1946), the Arenac County Fair has been offering fun and educational experiences for every age!

The first Gladwin County Fair was held in 1909 in Gladwin. Many years passed with fair events being held until 1953 when funds were not generated to pay premiums on items exhibited.

May 4 - 12, 2024

Visitors from all over the world come to see millions of tulips in parks, gardens and tulip lanes. The festival hosts 3 parades, music and variety shows, concerts, dinner theatre and over 1,100 authentically costumed Dutch dancers.

The Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce presents Alpenfest ®. Expect five days of festivities including a parade, Skerbeck Family Carnival, kid's games and contests, pancake breakfast, ethnic food, stages with live entertainment and the World's Largest Coffee Break. This is a true community celebration!

The Detroit Zoo is open 362 days a year
closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Animal Feedings/Demonstrations

Detroit Institute of Arts is among the top 10 museums in the country, offering over 100 galleries with art from ancient to modern times. Among the renowned works are French Impressionist, German Expressionist, American and Flemish paintings.

Villa Mari founder Marty Lagina made the (some would say) crazy choice to grow grapes that shouldn't grow in Michigan, with the belief that he could produce world class wines that otherwise couldn't be made here. So, true to his Italian heritage, he planted exotic varieties like Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and others.

Peninsula Cellars is a family run winery located on the Old Mission Peninsula, just north of Traverse City, Michigan. The region lies along the 45th parallel, halfway between the north pole and the equator. This gives the region its distinct micro-climate, that makes it perfect for growing high quality wine grapes.
