The TC Boom Boom Club is planning a BIGGER and BETTER fireworks display for our 4th of July celebration. The Traverse City Boom Club mission is to celebrate our community, the beauty of the Grand Traverse Region and freedom.

The mission of the Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department is to provide organized sports, leisure, cultural and educational programs, and outdoor recreational opportunities in a safe, healthy environment, providing members of the community with progressive recreational, cultural, leisure and educational programs.

The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is free to use and has a paved-asphalt surface that is 12-feet wide. It's a multi-purpose trail for non-motorized transportation and recreation. Once complete, the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail will encompass 35 miles of trail throughout Kalamazoo County.

Saginaw Valley Rail Trail is 9.2-mile trail is a great choice for your year around recreation. The Saginaw Valley Rail Trail always beautiful, but especially so in autumn when fall foliage is reaching peak colors.

Labor Day Weekend

The annual Marquette Area Blues Fest will be held over Labor Day weekend at the beautiful Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. The fest features three days of world class blues music, along with workshops, a dance floor, vendors, and a wide array of food and beverage choices!!

The Saginaw Valley Rail Trail covers 9.55 miles of abandoned rail corridor in Saginaw County, stretching from St. Charles to Saginaw. It incorporates a number of natural features including: seven bridges over various rivers and creeks, The Shiawassee State Game Area and many wetland areas.

August 22 - 25, 2024

Each summer ends with the Houghton County Fair in Hancock Michigan, the weekend before Labor Day weekend. It offers a great opportunity to come out and have a great time with friends and family with entertainment ranging from livestock shows, demolition and off road derby. Miss Houghton County Queen and youth talent show.

The annual Emmet-Charlevoix County Fair at the Petoskey Fairgrounds kicks off for the public on Tuesday and runs through Sunday. The Grandstand at the Fair is where the BIG excitement takes place, Tuesday through Saturday night, every year!

Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk is always Labor Day. the Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic form 6:30 a.m. to noon on Labor Day, to accommodate the Annual Bridge Walk.

There is no fee or registration required to participate in the walk.

Each year during the third weekend in August we celebrate a part of our local heritage, wild blueberries. An art fair, entertainment, and wonderful local food are part of the festivities. The celebration also showcases informative programs of music, nature, and lore all featuring local history.

Howell Recreation is excited to present this year’s The Mini Howell Melon Festival! This more compact and cozy version of the festival will still include lots of community favorite events and more (without the traffic headache as Grand River will not be closed).

The Michigan Honey Festival is a fun, inexpensive, & informative weekend for everyone, young and old, non-beekeepers, “Newbee’s” & seasoned beekeepers alike. All our attendees, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers will walk away with something.

The Coloma Glad-Peach Festival is an annual celebration of the gladiolus flowers and peaches, which are both grown locally. The festival is held the first weekend in August, and provides three days of family friendly fun for all ages.
