The Northern District Fair in Cadillac,Michigan

Villa Mari founder Marty Lagina made the (some would say) crazy choice to grow grapes that shouldn't grow in Michigan, with the belief that he could produce world class wines that otherwise couldn't be made here. So, true to his Italian heritage, he planted exotic varieties like Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and others.

Peninsula Cellars is a family run winery located on the Old Mission Peninsula, just north of Traverse City, Michigan. The region lies along the 45th parallel, halfway between the north pole and the equator. This gives the region its distinct micro-climate, that makes it perfect for growing high quality wine grapes.

Raftshol Vineyards is a small family winery located on Michigan’s scenic Leelanau peninsula. Warren Raftshol, the owner and winemaker, was one of the pioneers to grow red vinifera grapes in the area. The oldest vines are over 20 years old and since 1999 Raftshol Vineyards has been producing quality Bordeaux-style wines, meads and ice wine.

In March of 2013 Richard Fortune became the proud new owner of Shady Lane Cellars. Rich is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana and he and his family have been visiting Leelanau County for over 50 years.

An Artisan's Approach... We are dedicated to making wines that reflect the unique character and quality of our vineyard and the vineyards of Michigan. Whether carefully sourcing grapes from top sites in the state or from our own vineyard, our winery was built on the belief that great wines begin in the vineyard.
