Mont Ripley welcomes all snow enthusiasts. The ski area is owned by Michigan Technological University and sits in the middle of the cities of Houghton and Hancock. Mont Ripley is amazingly convenient and just minutes from great lodging, restaurants, microbreweries, nightclubs, and shopping.

Winter Carnival is February 7–10, 2018. Organized by Blue Key National Honor Society since 1934, Winter Carnival started in 1922 and has grown to become one of the largest annual winter festivals in the nation.

The City of Hancock, founded in the 1850's by early copper explorers, is a progressive and welcoming City of 4,600 residents on the North shore of Portage Lake, and is the northernmost City in Michigan.

FAIR DATES: August 24 to 27, 2017(The fair opens at 3 p.m. Thursday and closes at 5 p.m. Sunday) Each summer ends with the Houghton County Fair in Hancock Michigan, the weekend before Labor Day weekend.

Sand Point Charters offers fishing charters and sightseeing tours in the most pristine lake within the Great Lakes Region. Lake Superior is the World’s largest fresh-water lake and is home of the Lake Trout that can only be found in cold Northern waters.
