What to See and Do in Region 9 -Traverse City Area

Peninsula Cellars is a family run winery located on the Old Mission Peninsula, just north of Traverse City, Michigan. The region lies along the 45th parallel, halfway between the north pole and the equator. This gives the region its distinct micro-climate, that makes it perfect for growing high quality wine grapes.

2 Lads Winery is a 10,500 square foot facility located on 58 acres on the Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. We currently have 22 acres of established vineyards in three separate blocks that were planted in 1999,2001 and 2008.

For most of the last century, the Cohodas Farm and later Lakeview Orchards was a showcase farm in the county and in the state. With its close proximity to Lake Michigan and high relative elevations (up to 900 feet above sea level in places), the farm was perfect for fruit production.

With horseback, carriage, stagecoach, and hayrides to choose from, The Rockin' R is confident everybody will be able to fully enjoy the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.

Raftshol Vineyards is a small family winery located on Michigan’s scenic Leelanau peninsula. Warren Raftshol, the owner and winemaker, was one of the pioneers to grow red vinifera grapes in the area. The oldest vines are over 20 years old and since 1999 Raftshol Vineyards has been producing quality Bordeaux-style wines, meads and ice wine.

We are a small, family-owned business with a big love for craft chocolate. Our bright green shop is located at the gateway to the quaint, picturesque village of Empire, MI nestled in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Beautiful Lake (in Italian) … Bel Lago wines are made from grapes grown in family-owned vineyards overlooking Lake Leelanau and Lake Michigan. Bel Lago Vineyards and Winery was founded in 1987 by Domenic, Ruth, and Amy Iezzoni and Charles Edson.

Northern Michigan has offered the best of a vacation end point for three generations of Grossnickles. The Traverse City area provides the midwest with perhaps the best in hiking, swimming, boating, golfing, and a just plain relaxing atmosphere for all ages. And hence, was visited almost every year since the sixties.

In March of 2013 Richard Fortune became the proud new owner of Shady Lane Cellars. Rich is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana and he and his family have been visiting Leelanau County for over 50 years.

March 5, 2018 | Annual Suds & Snow festival is an afternoon filled with over 20 Michigan Craft Beer Breweries (cider houses, and wineries), Food ( local restaurants & food trucks), Snowshoeing; and MUSIC! This is how we live our Michigan Life!
