Marquette County was founded and developed because of its rich deposits
of iron ore. Miners from around the world found their way to Marquette to
make a better life for their families by bringing ore up from the veins
beneath. The city of Marquette sits on the southern shore of Lake Superior, the largest fresh-water lake in the world.

Labor Day Weekend

The annual Marquette Area Blues Fest will be held over Labor Day weekend at the beautiful Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. The fest features three days of world class blues music, along with workshops, a dance floor, vendors, and a wide array of food and beverage choices!!

The annual Blueberry Festival in Downtown Marquette. Washington and Front streets will be bustling with sidewalk sales, food vendors, artists, demonstrations, pony rides, inflatable arcade games, and activities for children and families.
