What to See and Do in Region 5 -Lansing to Saginaw

The Children’s Zoo features a variety of animals ranging from small insects to our large Clydesdale Horses. We are currently home to over 150 animals (and that’s not including the thousands of insects!) year round.

Public planetarium shows, featuring the Digistar II projector, are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 P.M., and Sundays at 4:00 P.M. Rediscover the wonders of the universe at Abrams Planetarium. The sky theatre features fantastic star shows produced by a computer graphics star projector. The planetarium also serves as an astronomy and space science education resource center.

Beaumont Tower is usually open to visitors during University Carillonneur Ray McLellan's weekly performances, which take place from noon to 12:30 p.m. on the day of student lessons.

Cooley Gardens belongs to the City of Lansing and is located just south of Lansing's central business district at Capitol Ave and Main St. Cooley Gardens is an eclectic garden, typical of formal estate gardens in the early part of the 20th century. It is composed of garden rooms enclosed by shrubbery, each with a different theme of planting.

Each year, Woldumar Nature Center - a private, non-profit environmental education organization - attracts some 40,000 visitors from across mid-Michigan.

Enjoy a fabulous narrated tour of Frankenmuth on the Cass River aboard our 150 passenger authentic paddlewheel riverboat, the "Bavarian Belle." Ramped, handicap-accessible dock. Open early May-Mid October.
