It’s officially fall in Michigan and it’s finally time to enjoy outdoor fall colors. Take the time to enjoy the beauty of the season. The trees are full of color - red, orange and yellows highlight the streets and streams regardless of where you travel. Michigan's Fall Foliage in the Upper Peninsula and the tip of northern Lower Peninsula should be at near-peak conditions starting the last week of September. The first week of October should stretch the colors from about Cadillac and Manistee north. Two weeks into October peak fall colors should now include most of lower Michigan. Michigan's Best Fall Color Tours

The West Tour is another scenic fall tour as travelers drive south from Marquette on US-41 and turn in at the entrance of the Nordic Bay. Stay to your left on the Cliff Tower Road and follow the signs up Mount Marquette for a panoramic look of Marquette.

Directions: From the intersection of Presque Isle Avenue and Hawley Street (CR 550), go approximately 23.5 miles to CR 510 (about 2.5 miles before Big Bay), turn left (south) onto CR 510, go approximately 1 mile on CR510 for parking on the right.

Saginaw Valley Rail Trail is 9.2-mile trail is a great choice for your year around recreation. The Saginaw Valley Rail Trail always beautiful, but especially so in autumn when fall foliage is reaching peak colors.

Michigan's Sunrise Side greets fall color in late September, and the autumn hues usually linger until mid-October. This 200-mile route travels from Lake Huron's shore to a stunning stand of virgin forest, with lots of opportunities for wildlife viewing along the way.
